The House of Hades is the fourth book in the Heroes of Olympus series. It’s one of my favorite books in the series because of how packed with action it is.
Summary
Percy and Annabeth have found the Doors of Death and are now prisoners in the Underworld.
The five other demigods, Jason, Piper, Nico, Leo, and Frank, are joining together to help rescue them by finding the Doors of Death on their side. If they can manage to find it, and if Percy and Annabeth are still alive, they will be able to close it and save the earth from the monsters invading it.
Review
As I said before, The House of Hades is one of my favorite books in The Heroes of Olympus series. Mostly because it’s one of the most action-packed books and because the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been.
I also really loved the book because you get to see a new side to Percy, who shows how hurt and traumatized he was by everything in the former books. We never really saw how affected he was by the events in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. And even by everything that happened in the first three books of this series, he lost 8 months of his life after all. But being in the underworld forces him to reckon with his feelings (more or less).
One of my favorite aspects of this book was the fact that we got to know more about Hazel and Nico, both children of Hades/Neptune. Hazel is one of my favorite new characters, and I’m delighted we got to know more about her. And I especially loved her journey learning magic with Hecate.
Should you read The House of Hades?
You should absolutely read The House of Hades! Of course, having read the first three in the series before.
