The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan

The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan

The Titan’s Curse is the third book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympian series. I first started reading the series back in 2016. I know it’s been a long time, and in four years, I just read three books. But boy, was it worth the wait!

I had real trouble getting into the series. But when I read The Titan’s Curse, just after the lockdown in France, I got really hooked. So hooked that I read the rest of the series in the following week! And I have been reading Rick Riordan books since then.

Summary

First, Percy, Annabeth, Grover, and the newly resurrected Thalia find themselves in a trap. Thankfully, Artemis and her Hunters come and help them. But Annabeth disappears while fighting the manticore. And after that, Artemis vanishes from the face of the earth.

That is why Hunters and Demigods will have to go on a new quest to find both of them and find out how to beat Kronos. Easy enough, right?

Review

As I said before, I had a hard time getting into the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. I first started reading the series four years ago, when I was 21 and didn’t relate that much to an 11-year-old boy…

But The Titan’s Curse changed everything for me! It was so gripping and thrilling that I forgot everything around me, and all I wanted to do, all the time was just read the book to find out what happened next. So much so, that I binge-read the rest of the series and the Riordanverse ever since!

I think what changed the deal for me in The Titan’s Curse is that the characters are growing up and are getting more and more mature feelings and reactions. I could finally relate to them, or at least remember what it felt like to be a 13-year-old girl (without all the Greek gods’ problems).

With the disappearance of Annabeth, we finally get to see a more mature side of Percy. And this is the book when he really starts becoming the powerful demigod everyone thinks he can be. He finally starts taking charge and exploring his powers more. Plus, you get to see that he starts falling in love with Annabeth, which I found really cute.

Should you read The Titan’s Curse?

Yes, yes, and absolutely yes! You should read The Titan’s Curse and all of the Riordanverse. It’s such a great YA universe that everyone, no matter the age, should read these books!
