Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is the second Harry Potter movie. It’s the adaptation of the book with the same name. I watched this movie for the first time when it came out in December of 2002 when I was just seven years old. As with all Harry Potter movies, I watched them as soon as they came out. And I just reread the book last week.
When I first watched the movie, I hadn’t read the book. And for me, it was one of the most magical things ever (no pun intended). I was just a child, and seeing a universe like that, really made me who I was.
Of course, I have seen it many times since otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to talk about it! I must have watched the entire series at least ten times since it first came out.
Synopsis
Harry Potter is on vacation at his aunt and uncle’s house, but he misses Hogwarts a lot and wants one thing to go back there soon.
One morning, a house-elf comes to warn him that a grave danger will befall him should Harry go back to Hogwarts. Of course, Harry won’t listen and goes back to Hogwarts.
Not long after school starts at Hogwarts, Harry begins to hear, in the castle, a menacing voice talking to him. After that, it’s only a matter of time before inexplicable events start to happen all around Harry.

Review
I really enjoy watching it because for me, it really shows how each characters are going to be. More so than the first one. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the term sophomore slump, but Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets really doesn’t feel like the slump in the Harry Potter series. In this movie, you get to see even more of the Wizarding World through the Weasley family. And that’s what I’ve always liked in this movie.
But what I really enjoy is the glimpse you get at who Voldemort was before he became this evil dark sorcerer. And this is the movie that starts going into Voldemort’s story (the book even more so).
I think I’ll stop with my review without spoiling you any further (for the few reading that haven’t watched the movies or read the books yet :p).
Should you see it?
You should absolutely see this movie! Ideally, having watched the first one before. It’s really a great follow-up to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. And it really makes you delve deeper into the lore of the Wizarding World.
