Men in Black 2

Men in Black 2

A few years ago, I decided to rewatch all the Men in Black. It didn’t really pan out. I watched the first then a couple of years later the second. Now, I still have to watch the third and fourth movies. But I’m getting off-topic, this is a review for Men in Black 2, the second movie of the Men in Black franchise.

I saw Men in Black 2 during the lockdown in France a few months ago. Like most of the movies, I watched this year… Yeah, I didn’t have that much time otherwise to watch movies. Either I was working, or I was too tired to do anything. Being an adult sucks… But, you’re not here to read the complaints about my life. Here’s the review of Men in Black 2!

In his four years spent protecting the Earth of all sorts of the alien threats, agent J, still working in the HQ of the Men in Black, still hasn’t found the ideal partner.

When a strange crime involving aliens is committed, the agency discovers a plot threatening our planet. Serleena, an evil alien, has taken the appearance of a lingerie top model. She is willing to do anything to fulfill her destiny. J is in dire need of K, his old partner who has lost all memories of MIB and now works as the USPS. By any means, necessary will J need to get K out of retirement.

Or, if you don’t want to read the synopsis, you can watch the trailer right here.

Ok, so I watched this movie for the first time when I was about 10. This is why I rewatched it a few months ago, at 25, to see if it still was as fun as I remembered. And also because I’ve never watched MIB 3 and 4. I figured it was best to rewatch the previous movies then try and remember what happened.

And I’ve got to say. This movie is way less fun to watch than the first one. And it’s not as fun as I remember it being from when I was 10. Which, of course, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t fun to watch.

Still, despite this, the movie was really amusing and funny. It was still a good sequel to the first Men in Black. But, for me, it didn’t quite live up to the first either.

Should you watch it?

Why not? It was still fun to watch, and if you like Will Smith, like me, it’s a good movie to watch. Just don’t expect to have as great a time as the first one. And of course, watch MIB 1 before watching this one.
